As a Sr. Front-End Developer/Architect, you will build and lead the implementation of a modern Color/Mobile Architecture by show casing technical depth and business acumen by guiding the mobile app and web experience layers that effectively supports PPG’s digital transformation journey. S/he will be required to provide design direction to our agile feature squads. This will require him/her to work alongside our lead solution architect, business analysts, and product owners to take business requirements and transform them into leading edge technical solutions for our b2b commerce platform. 

 

This is a global role requiring 20-30% travel. It is based in Pittsburgh, PA (USA).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Align with ecommerce product roadmap and create, maintain best practices and design documents in conformance with laid out enterprise architecture, digital architecture policies/practices.
  • Design and lead the implementation of a Front end, Mobile apps, web solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise and segment business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.
  • Lead, design and implement feature flagging for upcoming customer digital platform
  • Lead and participate in architecture guild calls and help mature architectural practice across digital organization.
  • Provide system designs for both our mobile and web application experience layers.  
  • Provide expert analysis on how to build highly scalable white label applications.   
  • Ability to work effectively with architects and developers to help define and develop the direction of the web/mobile platforms. 
  • Make recommendations related to development best practices and cloud based infrastructure.  
  • Develop executive presios, functionality and technology roadmaps, as needed for executive briefings.
  • Help mature Agile and Lean principles and practices
  • Contributes recommendations and implementation strategies for new technologies.
  • Understands the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technology trends by enabling new/evolving business and operating models.
  • Defines the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
  • Design, document, and communicate incremental and target state reference architectures.
  • Proactively evaluate, design and promote new products, processes, technologies and solutions.
  • A self-driven, highly- motivated technologist who can work with a high degree of autonomy and is able to prioritize effectively.
  • A business- minded person who can work collaboratively and has proven experience in creating influence across product teams, delivery, Digital and IT to drive technical efforts.
  • Someone who is articulate and can effectively communicate with technical teams, non-technical business leaders, and clients.

Qualifications:

 

  • Hands on experience with Front End frameworks (Angular, Vue, React) and development experience with MVC, .Net core, and JS framework webapps, Python a plus.
  • Strong understanding/experience of feature flags based feature activations. 
  • Strategizing and implementing A/B and MV Testing scenarios.  
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Solution Architecture; related experience and/or education may be considered.
  • 3+ years’ experience with Microservices, API first approach, Cloud native and headless ecommerce architecture
  • 5+ years of front-end web or native app development experience maintaining or architecting large scale frontend applications. 
  • Experience building scalable, multi-region systems. 
  • Clear understanding of software design patterns and principles. 
  • Experience in designing and developing authentication, authorization and other security aspects for a client side application. 
  • Experience with Azure Cloud preferred.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts to simple business language.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills with strong communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to translate the information architecture contribution to business outcomes into simple briefings for Senior Management. Convey the “Why”.
  • Strong integrated consultancy skills with the demonstrated ability to influence and manage the expectations of senior business stakeholders, Digital management and internal/external partners.
  • Fluent in continuous delivery, continuous integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Lean Startup methodologies.
  • A self-starter who is self-motivated, disciplined, self-assured, performance driven, and passionate about digital technology. Most importantly one who is focused on providing a viable path forward regardless of the technical challenge of the day.
