Technical Raw Material Initiatives Coordinator

As a Technical Raw Material Initiatives Coordinator you will work in coordination with Procurement and other organizations to drive value and improve our competitive advantages. It is a challenging position that combines value capture, operational excellence, and risk management activities. The ability to work both independently and as a part of a team, and adapt to constantly changing priorities will be key to success. The role will report to the Industrial Building Products organization and will support all Industrial technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive regional formula cost reduction activities across all technologies in USCA. Including management of cooperative projects between Technical and Procurement teams.
  • Facilitate communications between Industrial technical groups and Procurement to support global and regional cost savings pipeline development, key raw material strategies, and complexity reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with formulation teams on supplier approvals, changes to existing materials, introduction of new materials, and supply disruptions.
  • Navigate multiple IT systems to generate data on raw material usage and savings. Track and report regional and global cost savings results.
  • Provide assistance with raw material CHAMP code and specification maintenance.
  • Maintain professional networks across S&T, Procurement, Supply Chain, Product Stewardship, and Production to drive change and strengthen relationships among these organizations.
  • Develop business-specific plans with the Resin organization and formulators to support PPG resin optimization projections, plant relocations, and resin formula changes.
  • Present short, clear summaries of complex situations to technical and non-technical audiences.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
  • 3 or more years chemical research lab or chemical production plant experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Ability to influence without authority across a matrixed organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (English; full professional proficiency)
  • History of performance and positive interactions with business representatives
  • Knowledge of PPG organizations and a history of driving change across multiple function
  • Option to be remote position
