Technical Service Manager, PMC

As a Technical Services Manager you need to ensure that the Technical Service Representatives are qualified and conduct their work in a professional manner, by giving technical support and assistance to the yards / contractors and subcontractors who are and remain responsible for the proper application of Sigma Coatings / Amercoat products and systems. Also to make sure that the Representatives report and maintain adequate records of the actual condition and standards of application witnessed on site, in order to protect PPG against claims / complaints whilst improving customer satisfaction!

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the uniform guidelines and procedures set by the Global Field Technical Services Office are followed, and that the required reporting is done accurately and in time, in order to ensure that the interests of PPG PMC are protected.
  • Responsible for a qualitative and quantitative, proper and professional Field Technical Services organisation in the local PMC business.
  • To coordinate the team in such a way that the right man is at the right site at the right time in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
  • Responsible for the vital training and education of the team in such a way that they are familiar with new product developments and keep updated regarding new application procedures and methods.
  • To regularly supervise the performance of team on site and if needed take corrective measures to ensure satisfactory results.
  • To coordinate and organise the tasks and responsibilities of the local support team so that it will be encouraging to the commercial / marketing department objectives.
  • To update management on new developments in their market sector both on products and procedures (application / health & safety / environment etc.) in accordance with PPG PMC reporting lines and procedures.
  • Responsible for recruiting new Technical Service Representatives in line with the PPG policy.
  • Responsible for budgeted costs.
  • To check the contractual specification and working procedures on site. In case 3rd party documents (not being PPG) have to be signed by the Technical Service Representative on site, these documents have to be checked by the Global Field Technical Service Manager, Associate General Manager and approved by Risk Management from legal point of view beforehand.
  • In case of complaint / (potential) claim, to inform immediately the responsible Associate Manager and the responsible claim / complaint handling Manager with copy to the Risk Management and Global Field Technical Service Manager, providing all relevant information.


  • Bachelor’s Degree / Polytechnic school / Ship-officer qualification or similar
  • 3 - 5 years in the Marine or Protective coating related business
  • Microsoft Word / Excel / E-mail & Internet communication
  • Competence and experience in management of people
  • Fluency in English
