The incumbent is responsible for evaluation of new color measurement tools to improve color matching capability of solid as well as effect colors. Researches and develops color mathematics and Algorithms for color related paint formulations. Works in partnership with equipment vendors to develop and test new technology. Creates, pilots and commercializes highly efficient color measurement processes across all global aerospace color matching locations to improve productivity. Designs, implements and standardizes color measurement procedures and policies for solid as well as effect colors. The incumbent is responsible to prepare calibration panels to establish valid calibration files in different product lines. Creates, implements, maintains and provides training on Global Color Management Systems.  The incumbent is able to design and teach color theory to internal as well as external customers. Demonstrates ability to independently plan and coordinate activities related to color instrumentation. Provides solutions related to color measuring equipment and color software. For professional development purposes, the incumbent will be in attendance at appropriate professional seminars, trainings and technical literature. Participates and /or lead research projects with other business units.    Interacts with laboratories and research centers on various research projects. Observes records, investigates, duplicates and validates successful test procedures. Performs other lab tasks as assigned. Participates in lab’s 5S activities. Complies with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and procedures at all times.


Must have BS in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Color Science or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in color instrumentation or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in color instrumentation. At least 2 years of experience in statistics, engineering, physics or optics. Moderate understanding of Calculus and Linear Algebra. Solid understanding of color theory and relevant light physics. Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English. Must be able to use and wear all required safety equipment and clothing with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to effectively operate color measuring equipment and record results of experiments.  Must be able to successfully pass a color blindness test with or without reasonable accommodation. Minimum travel may be required.
