As the Commercial Excellence Product Training Specialist, you will be responsible for developing the product proficiency of the commercial sales teams across markets and channels in PPG Architectural Coatings USCA. This includes ongoing training and new hire training. You will drive sales force optimization and employee engagement through Product Training. You will partner cross-functionally with the entire Commercial Excellence function to ensure the sales teams have the tools and resources vital to meet sales targets and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support commercial teams as needed with Product Knowledge.
  • Lead Product Field Training to the commercial teams on topics dictated by Learning & Development calendar as well as the needs to be addressed by skills gap analysis.
  • The primary function is to deliver basic product support on Product Systems 101 for entry-level product knowledge.
  • Work with R&D and the Spec team with the development and training of the participants in the PSLP (Product Specialist Leadership Program) program.
  • Execute on-demand, virtual training opportunities to scale as quickly as possible and build a library of content.
  • Work with Product Management, Portfolio Management, and Marketing teams to drive relevant content to address competency skill gaps of the commercial team identified via the skills assessment platform,
  • Lead Product Management, Portfolio Management, and Marketing teams to drive relevant content Product Launch reformulations, rebrand, and other releases.
  • Complete all Miller Heiman Group training.
  • Support development and delivery of sales skill training utilizing MHG sales methodology.
  • Own and manage the Learning and Development calendar for targeted & prescriptive training.
  • Support the maintenance of the Demonstration build data-base.
  • Support the assessment and deployment of frequently requested demonstration builds.
  • Continually maintain and improve personal knowledge as it relates to the curriculum and market while honing training skills and knowledge base to provide quality training as well as feedback to curriculum developers.

Qualifications:

  • Product knowledge of architectural coatings, adhesives, sealants, and wood care products required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • MPI, SSPC, or NACE certifications preferred.
  • Product Knowledge and Product Training Experience
  • 2 plus years of experience in sales & support.
  • A deep understanding of current and emerging market trends.
  • Extensive analytical abilities and skills to evaluate and recommend alternative solutions.
  • Ability to lead, participate in teams, and work in a matrix organization with strong influencing skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express the complexity of technical concepts in audience-appropriate terms.
