As an IT Service Desk Analyst (Help Desk Representative) at PPG, you will be one of our front-line problem solvers, and will be trained on sophisticated techniques to trouble-shoot and resolve technical problems of PPG staff and partners.

Training:

The Service Desk Development program focuses on bringing ambitious career focused individuals into the Global IT organization with the primary goals of developing future IT leaders. The program gives new hires the ability to work with all of PPG's employees as part of our 24x7x365 Service Desk. New hires will utilize the ITIL methodology best practices of Incident, Problem and Knowledge Center support as they provide customers with support about IT services. This is a fully work from home position with the ability to work out of a Regional Technology Center office on an as needed basis.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, research, & resolve technical challenges.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls, online chats and emails for technical support.
  • Document, track and monitor problems to ensure timely resolutions for internal customers.
  • Participants will be able to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to help users and will receive on-the-job training, yearly corporate training and individualized training to help you grow personally and professionally

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Science, Computers, Information Technology, or similar; OR equivalent combination of training, certification, skills, and experience.
  • 0-4 yrs of related experience troubleshooting, setting up hardware, imaging systems, and/or working in a help-desk environment
  • Willingness to work a standard daylight shift and available for rotations in a 24/7/365 environment.
  • Available for on-call duty
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to think through technical problems step by step.
  • Strong critical thinking skills; ability to reason through undocumented challenges.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, ask probing questions, and make intelligent inquiries.
  • Must be proficient in English.

 

Future Opportunities:
 

The program targets to develop participants for future opportunities within IT Infrastructure Services which includes different technology tracks or the possibility of other areas of IT including Strategic Business Units or IT Support and Application Services. You will be eligible to begin posting for your next opportunity at 18 months and typical placements occur by 24 months but can vary based on performance, desired career track and job availabilities.
