As a Product Development Manager, you will organize and lead the Automotive Refinish - New Product Development Team. You will also lead a variety of both regional and global technical projects; aligned to strategic organic growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and direct development of projects against defined objectives and key priorities.
  • Develop detailed timelines for each project to ensure delivery business NPD goals.
  • Empower and develop the technical team through selection, goal alignment and direction, and identification of skills needs and gaps in team and provide training as required.
  • Identify appropriate talent to allocate to projects based on business priorities.
  • Partner with other labs regarding system compatibility in development projects, and maintain a close working relationship with production, and dispersion science; to ensure seamless scale up and launch of new products.
  • Ensure safe operating practices are followed by the team and that appropriate training is provided in order protect employee health and safety and to conform to local Environmental Health & Safety requirements.
  • Lead all aspects of continuous improvement activities in providing applicable work areas that reduces raw material costs, and improves work flow, processing efficiency, productivity, output consistency and work environment.
  • Develop awareness of competitor products and activities, supporting appropriate market evaluations.
  • Champion all activities in alignment with the One PPG approach and standards for quality, business conduct, code of ethics, EEO, diversity, engagement and financial performance!

Qualifications

  • A degree in a scientific field such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science is required.
  • A bachelors +10, or a Masters / PhD +5 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • People leadership or project leadership experience, specifically experience leading technical projects is required.
  • Experience working in large global environments with multi-functional teams is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with six sigma, or sigma logic methodology; including certification(s) is a plus.
